BrainHealth seeks a community-based cognitive support coach to mentor and encourage residents of the Pleasant Grove neighborhood for the BrainHealth Project. The primary responsibility for this role will include engaging local community members in order to promote brain health awareness, in Spanish and in English. In particular, the community-based coach will help inform, recruit, and support Pleasant Grove residents as they participate in the BrainHealth Project. The desired candidate will be self-motivated, have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and be accustomed to interacting with diverse individuals from the community. Applicants should be comfortable working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment that encourages growth and feedback. The position will require traveling within the Dallas area to various places in the community. Occasional evening and weekend hours will be required for special events and classes. Minimum Education and Experience Bachelor's degree with two to four years' experience in meeting planning. Preferred Education and Experience •Bilingual in English/Spanish •Strong interpersonal skills and ability to engage people •Excellent written and verbal communication skills (in both English and Spanish) •Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., MS Office products) •Experience working with or living in Latino immigrant communities a plus Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Deliver direct support to community members as a BrainHealth coach-providing education, feedback on brain health assessment (the BrainHealth Index), and tailored facilitation of science-backed brain health strategies-through one-on-one and group-level interactions.
  • Engage with community leaders and members through community-based events to spread awareness of brain health topics and tools and facilitate multi-generational enrollment and continued engagement to promote individual and community brain health in the long term.
  • Contribute to bettering the BrainHealth Project by sharing regular updates on experiences and insights gleaned with the BrainHealth Project team, along with community-based perspectives informing how we can continue to make the information/processes/tools more accessible and impactful across different groups.
  • Collaborate with other local partner organizations to increase community access to public health resources that promote/support brain health.
  • Maintain a dynamic network of community contacts along with an up-to-date awareness of relevant resources within the areas being served through these BrainHealth efforts.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions Office Environment. Long hours at computer. Working with team and community members during in-person work efforts. Physical Activities Working Conditions Additional Information After the probationary period, this role may be eligible for a hybrid (partly remote/partly in office) work schedule, subject to business need and manager approval. May be required to use personal computer and other standard office equipment. Must be located within the DFW Area and have the ability to be on campus with 24 hours notice.
