Utilizing a student-centered philosophy, the Transfer Credential Coordinator provides exemplary service and support to facilitate the admission, enrollment, and matriculation of transfer students and to promote the success of Christopher Newport students in achieving their goal of obtaining a college education. This position monitors the organization of the centralized transfer process while implementing procedures in accordance with university and state policies. The Transfer Credential Coordinator effectively communicates with students, faculty and staff to resolve issues relating to transfer credit evaluations and provides transfer evaluation reports to students and institutional colleges and departments based on specific criteria set forth in the State Policy on Transfer and the University's Undergraduate Catalog.

Purpose of the Position

This position assists with transfer, readmit, and non-degree application processing, and the evaluation and processing of transfer credit and 'other' credit to include Advanced Placement, Cambridge, dual enrollment, and International Baccalaureate, ensuring that credit is appropriately evaluated, programmed, and posted to the record and Webs. This position represents the office, exercising strong public relations skills in dealing with both telephone inquiries and in-person inquiries and dealing with special problems concerning the transferability of courses and the system transfer equivalency catalog.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Related to Position

* Proficiency working with Microsoft Word or comparable word processing system.

* Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with a variety of constituents

* Ability to meet deadlines and adhere to strict schedules

* Keyboarding/data entry skills with high accuracy

* Ability to multitask, work independently, and develop new skills as necessary

* Strong organizational skills and practices

* Ability to work with confidential records maintaining a high level of discretion, judgment and confidentiality

* Ability to read for content and exercise sound judgment in the application of policies

* Proficiency with processing and records maintenance using an enterprise records system (such as PeopleSoft or Banner)

* Judgment, problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities

* Knowledge of higher education admission and/or transfer policies

* Ability to understand, interpret, and explain complex federal, state, and institutional policies, procedures, processes, and lawsAbility to function as a team-player with a willing attitude

* Proficiency with Excel or comparable system to include complex formulas and functions

Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification Required

Education:

* High school diploma or equivalent experience that equates to a high school diploma.

Experience:

* Customer service and/or public relations experience.

* Experience working with confidential records.

* Bachelor's degree

Experience:

* Experience in an institution of higher education involving interpretation and/or communication of federal, state, institutional policies, processes, and/or procedures.

* Experience working with student records and/or student record systems.

* Experience in computer software applications to include Microsoft Excel and Word.

* Experience with databases or student information systems.

* Experience involving public contact in an academic or business environment.

Salary Information Starting at $33,279 Commensurate with Education and Experience CNU Information
