JOB SUMMARY: Performs assigned duties to support Transit Operations and carryout Dispatching, Intake functions and limited Trip eligibility in a high volume fast pace environment. Performs all duties according to applicable regulations and Program/Agency policies/procedures. JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESDispatcher Responsibilities:
- Provides for Opening or Closure of the facility as assigned and ensures full readiness for each day's business or securement at closing.
- Monitors arrival of Transit Operators for completion of required documentation.
- Assist with same day transportation request for trip reservation and loads request in consumer data base.
- Monitors transportation request for pending return trips and updates dispatch data base.
- Receives transportation request of the various transportation services and provides information to callers.
- Documents passenger complaints/compliments and incident reports; shares with supervisor when one is not readily available for the call.
- Provides support to insure pending trips, pickup and delivery of all scheduled passengers in a timely fashion.
- Provides back-up coverage for other Dispatcher(s) in their absence.
- Assists drivers with route information, locations and directions.
- Provides assistance during high volume dispatching radio traffic as assigned.
- Monitors vehicles, equipment and driver/aide readiness to meet operational needs as assigned.
- Performs computer data entry to document cancellations and no-shows for billing purposes.
Reservation Intake Responsibilities:
- Performs intake reservation; Gathers data from callers, verifies data, and maintains accurate records in the consumer/trip data base.
- Receives/screens transportation request; Provides basic transportation options to riders on county wide transportation services.
- Supports operations by performing various short-term duties as assigned.
- Conducts Agency Screening process to access for additional Agency service needs and makes referrals.
Scheduling Responsibilities:
- Assist with Scheduling last minute transportation requests into existing scheduled runs.
- Assist with trip reservation data accuracy as assigned by Scheduler for accuracy.
- Maintain familiarity of the scheduling process for all services requirements.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to quickly analyze problems and make decisions in high stress situations and determine when to seek assistance.
- Must maintain good working relationships with Agency staff, other services providers and consumers.
- Must be able to work with a large cross section of people in a professional and non-judgmental manner, and be a positive role model to others.
- Must satisfy the requirements of the OCO Driving Safety Policy.
- Must possess clerical and arithmetic skills.
- Must be flexible, cooperative and able to work independently and flex work schedule as needed.
- Must demonstrate the ability to read maps.
- Must know and use correct radio procedures including 10 Codes.
- Must be able to use computers and software to access standard reports and data entry.
- Must have acceptable physical and mental health to carry out the responsibilities of the position.
- Must have geographical knowledge of area served including distance and travel time.
- Must attend meetings and trainings as requested; must successfully meet Drug and Alcohol Policy.
- Must satisfy the annual in-service Agency training requirements.
- Must complete annual BBP, Diversity, Emergency Preparedness and other required training
- Must have a valid NYS Driver's License and vehicle insurance within Agency Policy and maintain vehicle certification.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. and applicable computer experience; and
- Approximately Three years experience in passenger transportation with some experience dispatching/reservations; or
- Any equivalent combination of education, experience and training.
