The Transit & Mobility Group Director is responsible for the direction and supervision of multiple transit design and planning departments, each led by a department manager, and is focused on achieving successful business performance including project delivery, sales and revenue growth, recruiting and retention, and strategic planning. The Transit & Mobility Group Director actively engages with our transit clients on current project performance and future opportunities, discovering what our clients value most and collaborates on aligning HNTB to deliver that value. As an active member of the Office Leadership Team, the Transit & Mobility Group Director collaborates with leadership across the office and division to apply the firm's strategic sales and planning approaches while assisting with project pursuits and proposals. This position is also responsible for coaching and mentoring staff in managerial and technical topics. The Transit & Mobility Group Director actively participates in industry organizations, building relationships and promoting HNTB. What You'll Do:
    • Direct and supervise the development and management of the operating budgets for the departments within the Group and coordination with the office's budget.
    • Oversee the group (multiple departments) activities, establish priorities and assign staff to projects. Collaborate with other groups, offices, and divisions on work-sharing needs and opportunities.
    • Drive the implementation of the firm's strategic plan and HNTB's Sophisticated Sales Approach (SSA) process on project pursuits and markets with the Group and office, including development of strategic planning strategies.
    • Implement the firm's contracting (SCA) process through project delivery and contracting activities including scope, work plan and fee reviews for all contracting activities impacting the group.
    • Implement the firm's project delivery (SDA) process including Work Planning, Monthly Project Reviews and other project performance methods to ensure quality work, on time, on schedule, to the client's satisfaction.
    • Assist in marketing responsibilities, including client discovery, proposal generation, interviews, and win-to-work activities.
    • Maintain client contacts to ensure client satisfaction. Lead and assist in sales and marketing efforts for department's growth.
    • Assist in the development and execution of the office strategic plan. May participate in the Office Leadership Team (OLT).
    • Recruit, hire, develop and retain department staff within the group, including supporting Department Managers with the development of plans for staff reporting, performance and compensation reviews, and succession planning.
    • Manage assigned project management activities (project scope, schedule, budget and quality management) and perform technical discipline tasks including research, reports, design, specifications and plan preparation.
    • Perform other duties as assigned. What You'll Need:
      • Bachelor's degree in engineering with 12 years of practical experience including 4 years of supervisory experience. What We Prefer:
        • 20 years practical experience; preference for New York market experience and relationships.
        • 10 years supervisory experience.
        • Professional Engineer (PE) certification or equivalent professional registration. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be dependent on factors, including but not limited to, the individual's qualifications, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as physical work location within the state.
