We are seeking a collaborative and committed individual to join our team to pilot a new program model in which a staff member will directly advocate for youth in foster care. The ideal candidate will be passionate about our mission and have experience working directly with youth 14 years and older.

o An individual with strong interpersonal communication and collaboration skills
o Nonjudgmental and empathetic
o Responsible, reliable, and committed
o Coachable, open to learn, and adaptive
o A former foster youth, have been personally involved with child welfare or Juvenile Justice and/or are from Prince George's County, MD.
o Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus.
· You have
o A minimum of 2 years working directly with youth 14 years and older
o Experience working with Microsoft Office suite and databases
o Ability to pass required background checks throughout employment at CASA, including a federal and state criminal screening and a check of the Child Abuse Central Index.
What will you do?
In this role, you will collaborate with the Transition Aged Youth team to implement an Emerging Adults framework to improve outcomes for older youth preparing to transition out of foster care to adulthood.
Case Management:
· Provide ongoing direct advocacy to approximately fifteen (15) youth in foster care, including monthly visits with the youth, meetings/calls with parties to the case and significant individuals.
· Provide written and oral reports to the court with your observations and recommendations in each case.
· Attend important meetings and court hearings for all assigned youth and other liaison duties as needed.
· Participate in Transition Aged Youth team to provide input into decision-making; resource acquisition and allocation; and strategic planning for working with TAY.
Outreach/Resource Development:
· Provide input to outreach team to bolster the recruitment of volunteers who are ready to work with transition aged youth.
· Connect and leverage community resources to benefit youth.
· Attend community events and CASA-hosted events.
Professional Development and Volunteer Training:
· With supervisor, you will co-create a one-year personal professional development plan.
· Attend volunteer trainings that contribute to understanding the role of a CASA.
Note: Must have personal transportation and the ability to regularly travel throughout Prince George's County and broader area including occasional travel to Baltimore.
