About the job Transmission Line Engineer The Transmission Line Engineer / PLS CADD Subject Matter Expert is responsible for managing and executing the design portion of transmission line engineering projects. The ideal candidate would be comfortable in a fast-paced environment with competing deadlines and be a proactive and self-motivated employee who is able to think critically and learn concepts quickly. The Transmission Line Engineer / PLS-CADD Subject Matter Expert would:
- Generate transmission line deliverables including route alignment drawings, sag charts, stringing charts, loading diagrams, foundation drawings
- Interface with internal and external teams to resolve technical challenges
- Provide mentorship and training to less experienced engineers in PLS-CADD and transmission line design
Accountabilities:
- Drive the design aspects of a transmission line project and identify technical challenges.
- Understand client specifications and design requirements and communicate those to others.
- Keep up with software and technology trends relating to transmission line design and look for ways to continuously improve the workflow.
Qualifications:
- B.S. in Structural/Civil Engineering.
- Registered Professional Engineer
Experience and Expertise:
- Structural analysis and design of transmission lines and substation structures up to 345kV.
- Experience includes new line, rehabilitation, and relocation for projects that traverse varying elevations and urban alleys.
- Experience includes projects that vary in length from several poles to 20+ miles.
- Experience includes a variety of structures including monopoles, lattice structures, and guyed towers.
- Foundation design and steel detailing.
- Experience with distribution design is a plus.
- Proficiency with PLS-CADD and affiliated modules including TOWER, PLS-POLE, SAGSEC, CAISSON, and SAPS
