Job Title: Transport Engineer

Location: West Nyack, NY

Targeted Years of Experience: 7-10 years

Responsibilities:

• Perform detailed equipment engineering for network augments, including eNSE hub migrations.
• Develop specifications for network assurance to enable turn-up, inventory, and configuration.
• Obtain management approvals, issue purchase orders, and create diagrams/drawings.
• Manage and update central Network Inventory Databases to reflect new builds, adds, and decommissions.
• Ensure compliance with engineering, financial planning, and operational standards.

Must-Have Skills:

• Proficiency in configuring and managing Nokia Service Routers (e.g., 7750 SR, 7705 SAR, 7210 SAS).
• Strong knowledge of Nokia Service Router Operating System (SR OS).
• Experience with routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, IS-IS, MPLS, and Segment Routing).
• Understanding of IP/MPLS networks, VPN technologies (L2VPN, L3VPN), and traffic engineering concepts.
• Network Management Tools: Familiarity with Nokia Network Services Platform (NSP) for network automation and management.
• Experience with network monitoring and optimization tools (e.g., Wireshark).
• Scripting and Automation: Proficiency in scripting languages like Python or Perl for network automation.
• Understanding of APIs (e.g., RESTCONF, NETCONF) for automated provisioning and management.
• Project and Documentation Skills: Ability to implement router configurations for large-scale projects.
• Proficiency in creating and maintaining network diagrams and documentation.
• Additional Requirements: Understanding of QoS policies, security configurations (ACLs, IPsec), and redundancy protocols (e.g., VRRP).
• Familiarity with software upgrades and lifecycle management of Nokia router platforms.
• Willingness to work flexible hours or be on-call for network emergencies.

• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills for resolving network issues.
• Ability to implement fault-tolerant and high-availability configurations.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills for cross-functional collaboration.
• Experience in multi-vendor environments.

Education/Certifications:

• Preferred but not required:
• Nokia Network Routing Specialist (NRS I or II).
• Nokia Service Routing Architect (SRA) or equivalent certifications.
