JOB SUMMARY FOR Transportation Aide:

We are currently seeking applicants for the position of Transportation Aide. The position of Transportation Aide is a part-time position and will be responsible for transporting residents to and from their appointments to physicians, laboratories, hospitals, dentists, as well as other appointments as scheduled.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS FOR TRANSPORTATION AIDE:

  • Reviews appointments with transportation scheduler each day.
  • Ensure residents are prepared to leave the facility, personal cleanliness, weather appropriate clothing, etc.
  • Retrieves proper paperwork and documentation needed for the appointment from the resident's Nurse prior to leaving the facility.
  • Accompanies residents to appointments and remains with the resident if their family member is not present.
  • Transports residents to and from scheduled appointments and approved locations in a safe and responsible manner
  • Receives, understands and conveys to the Nursing Staff and/or other persons verbal instructions and explanations from the hospital, doctor, laboratory or other sources
  • Responsible for the care and well-being of all residents
  • All other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS FOR TRANSPORTATION AIDE:

  • Must have a valid driver's license in the State of Illinois
  • CNA preferred but not required
  • Must be able to read and follow written directions
  • Must be able to communicate with residents and co-workers in English
  • Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public.
  • Be able to receive, understand and pass on to nurses detailed instructions relating to the resident he/she has received from hospitals, physicians, nurses, dentists, public aid employees, etc.
