Job Description:
Tree of Life Personal Care Home is looking to add a Transportation Attendant to their team.Position SummaryAble to drive Tree of Life Personal Care Home, LLC vehicles. To provide non-emergency transport of all residents of the Community, including mobility-impaired, by accommodating wheelchairs, walkers, canes, oxygen, or any assisting devices. To offer safe custom transport to medical appointments, treatment facilities, and social outings as scheduled.Essential Functions
  • Report to facility 20 minutes prior to schedule departure time. Check with LPN for medications needed for the time while out of the facility, changes in physical condition.
  • Walk around the vehicle to observe any visual defects and check operational systems, breaks, horns, mirrors, windshield wipers, lights, first aid kits, emergency flashers, door operating devices, lift operations before beginning trips.
  • Pick up and safety return resident whenever needed. Provide aid as necessary for safe boarding of vehicles. Make sure passengers' mobility equipment, wheelchairs, packages, etc. are properly secured before starting vehicle.
  • Responsible for gas fill up at authorized fueling stations, always maintaining a level of ½ tank or more. Basic maintenance of vehicle. If additional maintenance is required, contact the appropriate repair service station.
  • Collect and tabulate mileage information and forward to Administrator.
  • Supervise the parking and storage of community vehicles.
  • Maintain all registrations and inspections according to State and local laws.
  • Perform vehicle cleaning duties to include exterior and interior surfaces, vacuuming, and waxing, as necessary.
  • Monitor parking lot to assure safe entry into vehicle. Use of handicapped spaces are to be monitored for proper usage.
  • Be aware of building(s) emergency evacuation plans.
The above requirements are representative of minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities. To perform this job successfully, the individual will possess the ability and aptitude to perform each duty proficiently.Educational and Other Requirements
  • At minimum, a Pennsylvania driver's license that is unexpired and in good standing.
  • Class B with air brake endorsement required.
  • Passenger endorsement required.
  • 2 years of experience driving a transport bus, ambulance, or similar vehicle preferred.
  • 2 years of work experience that required interaction with patients, rehabilitation clients and/or long-term care residents preferred.
  • Current CPR and First Aide required (will train if needed).
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
  • 5-year clean driving record.
  • Direct Care Training required prior to transporting residents.

    • OAPSA required FBI Fingerprints, National Sex Offender Registry, PA State Criminal History, PA Child Abuse and Physical assessment are required prior to hire and required every five years. Physical assessments will be required every two years.
    • A valid PA Driver's License with acceptable driving history is required.
    • Position required the carrying of a handgun and must have a carry permit for the weapon. The sidearm must be registered in the Associate's home state.
