If this describes you, we are looking for a talented and ambitious Transportation Engineer in our Salt Lake City, Utah office. You will provide engineering expertise on highway projects including roadway studies and design, drainage and utility systems, preliminary and final design, preparation of construction documents, cost estimates, project scheduling, and large, complex highway corridors.
What You Will Be Doing:
* Perform plan development activities for a comprehensive range of transportation design projects such as horizontal and vertical geometry, cross sections, earthwork modeling, 3D roadway modeling, quantities calculations, construction specifications, and utility coordination.
* Assist in the development of marketing strategies for transportation project opportunities.
* Adhere to company standards for quality assurance and quality control as defined in the quality manual.
* Attend on-site and off-site client meetings.
* Evaluate client needs and identify requirements.
* Meet with client management as necessary during the term of a project to resolve issues and to obtain approvals at the project's completion.
* Prepare and modify reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, cost estimates, environmental studies, and designs for projects.
* Evaluate need for design changes and makes appropriate recommendations.
* Submit documents to federal, state, and local agencies for code compliance review and obtain permits when required.
This position offers exciting challenges and opportunities to develop the Utah program while supporting all activities related to project scope, schedule, cost, quality, communications, and resources; mentoring younger members, assisting in transportation market business development, and participating in professional organizations and technical committees.
Required Qualifications:
* Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university.
* At least 5 years of roadway design or relevant experience.
* Utah Professional Engineer (PE) license, or ability to obtain within 6 months.
* Experience with the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) or similar state DOT and/or local government agencies developing and delivering highway design projects.
* Experience with Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) design methods, plan preparation, standards and specifications or similar state DOT experience.
* Demonstrated capabilities and success in designing medium to large multi-disciplined transportation projects.
* Working knowledge of roadway design software used to prepare engineering and design documents.
* Knowledge of virtual collaboration tools such as ProjectWise.
* Proven leadership, communication, and mentoring skills.
Preferred Qualifications
* Open Road Designer (ORD).

While some members choose to work out of their local office on a full-time basis, we offer a hybrid schedule for eligible positions consisting of two days a week in the office, two days a week remotely, and Friday being a flexible day that can be worked either in the office or at home. Eligible roles can also offer a compressed workweek schedule. Members who participate will be assigned a 9/80 work schedule, meaning every other Friday off!
