Job Description:

The Project and Contracts Engineer serves as the project manager for all Transportation Service Center (TSC) projects, including those designed by the TSC, the Region, Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT), or external consultants. This role involves overseeing the cost, scope, and schedule of a multi-year portfolio of projects, many of which are highly complex. A key responsibility is administering consultant contracts, ensuring that all project phases are delivered on time, within budget, and meet MDOT standards.

This position requires extensive coordination with both regional and statewide project development teams. It involves maintaining comprehensive project records and communicating essential information to all stakeholders. This position must meet tight deadlines and resolve complex issues to ensure the successful implementation of MDOT services and products.

In the capacity of Project Manager, this position leads and assists in the development of quality plan and proposal packages, working with both MDOT staff and consultants. The role also includes coordinating the Early Preliminary Engineering/Scoping/Call for Projects processes, with a focus on scope, cost, and schedule alignment within MDOT funding templates. Additional duties include managing project resources (such as Planisware, JobNet, and Phase Initiator), collaborating with the Region Design Squad, and handling special projects and assignments related to TSC operations. Continuous engagement with customers and stakeholders is essential for the successful execution of these responsibilities.

Education

Possession of a bachelor of science degree in engineering.

Experience

Four years of professional experience equivalent to a Transportation Engineer, including two years equivalent to a Transportation Engineer P11 or one year equivalent to a Transportation Engineer 12 or Transportation Engineer Licensed 12.

* Possession of a registered professional engineering license as required by the State of Michigan.
