Job Description:
ESP Associates, Inc. has an opportunity for aGeotechnical Project Engineer to join our team. The position will be focused primarily on the transportation market in North and South Carolina. With employees and offices spread throughout the Southeast (and beyond), this role has flexibility to work from several ESP locations, including South Charlotte (Fort Mill - ESP's corporate HQ), Charleston, SC, and Raleigh, NC.   • Subsurface investigations
  • Laboratory testing
  • Seismic analyses, including site-specific seismic response analyses.
  • Embankment settlement and stability analyses
  • Reinforced earth structure analyses and design
  • Foundation analyses and design
  • Ground improvement analyses and design
  • Report preparation
  • Foundation load testing
  • Construction engineering and inspection
  • Noise and vibration monitoring
Responsibilities:
  • The candidate will be involved in all phases of a project including business development, proposal preparation, managing and/or performing field investigations, engineering analysis, report writing, consultation, invoice preparation, client contact and correspondence.
  • Plan and execute field exploration and laboratory testing programs
  • Perform engineering analyses, geotechnical design, and write technical reports
  • Provide oversight of field staff and peer review
  • Provide consultation/evaluation for field-related concerns
  • Client interaction and perform project management duties
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Master Degree in Geotechnical Engineering preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) in North Carolina or South Carolina
  • 4+ years of relevant experience on transportation projects
  • Experience with NCDOT and/or SCDOT preferred
  • Displays strong technical skills in soil mechanics and geotechnical analyses and design
  • Display experience with soft ground and high seismic geology
  • Must possess intermediate to advanced computer skills (MS Office, relevant technical software, CAD (MicroStation and OpenRoads are preferred), including learning company/client software
  • Candidate must be able to pass a drug screen, background check, and have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the company's driving (MVR) policy
