Key Responsibilities
Operations Management
- Plan, manage, and optimize transportation schedules and routes to maximize efficiency and minimize costs.
- Oversee the coordination of freight, shipments, and deliveries to meet customer and organizational requirements.
- Monitor daily operations and address issues promptly to minimize disruptions.
Team Leadership
- Supervise and mentor transportation staff, including drivers, dispatchers, and logistics coordinators.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide training and development opportunities.
- Foster a culture of teamwork, safety, and continuous improvement.
Compliance and Safety
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local transportation regulations (e.g., DOT, OSHA).
- Develop and enforce safety protocols for fleet operations and personnel.
- Conduct regular audits and inspections of vehicles and equipment.
Fleet Management
- Oversee the maintenance and repair of vehicles and equipment to ensure safety and reliability.
- Manage fuel consumption, mileage tracking, and fleet optimization.
- Implement technology solutions for fleet tracking and data management.
Budgeting and Reporting
- Develop and manage transportation budgets, including cost forecasting and expense tracking.
- Prepare regular reports on key performance indicators (KPIs) such as delivery times, costs, and fleet utilization.
- Identify areas for cost reduction and operational improvement.
Customer Service
- Serve as the primary point of contact for transportation-related inquiries and issues.
- Maintain high levels of customer satisfaction by ensuring timely and accurate deliveries.
- Resolve disputes and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or a related field.
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in transportation or logistics operations, with at least 2 years in a managerial role.
