They are the unsung heroes who ensure the safety and well-being of our students and help provide priceless access to education. Job Description: Greet students, show them to their seats, help students with fastening/unfastening seat belts, perform harness hook-up and wheelchair securement, ensure safety of students getting on/off the bus, always remember you're working with special needs students, you may need to assist the bus driver with various tasks. Requirements:
- Able to work from 6:00 a.m. to 9:15 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. (Hours are subject to change depending on the daily assignment)
- Must be punctual and maintain a good attendance record.
- Must be able to interact well with students of all ages.
- Must be able to interact well with colleagues.
- Some experience working with special needs students preferred.
- Able to push/pull, bend - minor lifting from time to time is possible. (Up to 50 pounds)
- Must obey all state and federal laws and regulations for securing students.
- High school diploma or GED certificate required.
- Must pass background check and a physical examination.
Responsibilities:
- Must be willing to attend first available CPI training when available.
- Be knowledgeable of the safety rules and regulations.
- Manage appropriate student behaviors. Practice clear, concise direction for student.
- Assist with student data sheet and incident reporting.
- Help maintain a clean orderly bus environment.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: The employee's salary and working conditions are in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Professional Agreement between the Livonia Public Schools School District and the Livonia Paraprofessionals' Association. This position will remain open until all positions are filled.
