THE POSITION

The Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is on the lookout for a driven, analytical, and detail-oriented candidate to assist with project and contract management within the Bureau of Planning and Research, specifically in the Research Program Management and Implementation. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Trainee in Transportation Planning, you will engage in the formulation and execution of PennDOT's Annual Research Program.

Your role will involve contributing to the creation of research initiatives by preparing essential documentation such as project scopes, budgets, implementation timelines, and informational sheets.

Additionally, you will assist in overseeing research projects by coordinating various activities, which include generating both written and verbal status updates, facilitating meetings, and ensuring adherence to the predetermined schedules, deliverables, and financial plans associated with each project.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

* Full-time employment

* Work hours are 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

* Overtime and extensive statewide travel are required.

* Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time up to 2 days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.

* Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

* A bachelor's degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering, electrical engineering, mathematics, statistics, planning, computer science, or geography; or

* An equivalent combination of experience and training.

* Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 6 months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.

Other Requirements:
