DESCRIPTION OF WORK
In this role, you will perform a variety of complex technical and business functions that support transportation planning and engineering. This includes supporting the development and updates of statewide and metropolitan plans by utilizing data from federal, state, local, and other organizations. You will provide support and technical assistance to GIS coordinators, operators, county representatives, planning partners and other staff utilizing GIS technologies; conduct analysis and visualizations of raster and vector transportation planning and related data; assist in the maintenance of PennDOT's web-based mapping projects and GIS applications; and participate in the testing of new GIS software packages, technologies, and versions in preparation for implementation. Additionally, you will represent the department at national and regional GIS forums and user groups, and prepare as well as present reports for decision makers on all transportation project programs and issues that require attention.Interested in learning more? - Full-time employment
- Work hours are 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time upon successful completion of probationary period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONSMinimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- A bachelor's degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering, electrical engineering, mathematics, statistics, planning, computer science, or geography; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
