EPT/SCHOOL: Student Transportation DATE REVISED: September 2024PRIMARY PURPOSE: Responsible for preparing and coordinating bus routes and student assignments with consideration for bus stop and in-transit safety and ensuring safe, efficient, and economical home-to-school bus service and summer school route service. To maintain contact between drivers, the transportation office, administrators, and parents. The Route Specialist is subject to all the same qualifications, essential functions, rules, and regulations as a bus driver. QUALIFICATIONS: Education/Certifications: High School graduate/GED Valid Texas CDL license (class B) with passenger and S and P endorsements TEA Certified Acceptable driving record as defined by the Texas Department of Public Safety School Bus Driver Penalty Point System Ability to pass alcohol and drug screen tests. Ability to pass yearly DOT physical. TAPT certifications are preferred or otherwise will to obtain requested certifications as they become available Preferred 3+ years experience as a certified school bus driver or dispatcher Special Knowledge/Skills: - Knowledge of school bus laws, rules, and regulations
