About The PositionPosition: Histotechnologist Job Description:
- Processes specimens for histological examination which may include grossing embedding microtomy and routine staining.
- Processes special stains and Immunohistochemical slides for microscopic analysis. Prepares slides for ancillary testing.
- Performs routine maintenance of histology instrumentation.
- Monitors inventory at work stations and requests supplies needed.
- May coordinates laboratory research projects.
- Resolves discrepancies with minimal oversight and seeks help as needed.
- Performs other related duties and training as assigned.
- Ensures compliance with all regulatory agencies including CAP.
- Adheres to all safety policies and procedures.
- Assures accurate specimen labeling and maintains the integrity of specimen records through approved identification procedures.
- Maintains procedures and records in accordance with regulatory standards.
Qualifications:
- Must be proficient in all aspects of histology laboratory practice.
- State licensed or able to obtain before starting position as a Clinical Histology Technician or Clinical Medical Technologist.
- Meets CLIA personnel standard criteria.
- Experience with IHC, specialty staining
- Skills in microtomy, grossing, processing, embedding, cutting and routine special staining techniques.
- Preferred Skills: ASCP, Grossing experience
