Certification Details BLS, HT(ASCP) or HTL(ASCP) certification required Job Details Position/Specialty: Histology Tech Shift: Will work Day shift, Monday-Friday 6am-2:30pm Is on-call REQ? No This position works on the MUSC Charleston campus. No floating required. Experience REQ: 3-5 years full time experience Experience REQ: Embedding and Microtomy skills First-timers accepted: Yes Preferred: Bachelor's degree in histotechnology, biology or other related scientific discipline, QIHC Guaranteed Hours: Facility allowed to call off 1 shift per 2 weeks Travelers should be aware that during hurricane season, all employees and contractors may be assigned to emergency response teams. Hurricane season runs from June through November each year. The peak months for hurricane activity are August and September. Job Requirements BLS, HT(ASCP) or HTL(ASCP) certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP BOC) Schedule Information Will work Day shift, Monday-Friday 6am-2:30pm Unit Specific Information Histotechnologist - Under direct supervision performs routine and complex histologic procedures including, processing, embedding, microtomy, routine and special stains, and immunohistochemistry. Performs quality control on completed slides. Identifies problems that may affect diagnosis and results. Records observations from tests. Documents maintenance of instruments and equipment used in the lab. Complies with established laboratory policies and procedures. Additional Details Radius rule? Yes, 60 miles. Are locals accepted? Yes, on a case-by-case basis at 10% less than the posted bill rate RTO Restrictions: All RTO must be included at time of submission. Approval will be based on department's/manager's needs.
