Job Details Under direct supervision of a Registered Nurse or physician, the LPN performs nursing duties in the care and treatment of patients on an assigned unit.The duties require the use of tact and judgment in the care and treatment of patients.May assist in the supervision of non-professional subordinates.Is cognizant of philosophy, standards, objectives and policies of the Nursing Department.Performs related duties as required.Job Requirements Overview:Under direct supervision of a Registered Nurse or physician, the LPN performs nursing duties in the care and treatment of patients on an assigned unit.Responsibilities:Demonstrates proficient knowledge in the treatment of patients requiring nursing care.Uses available diagnostic results and other information to make an accurate evaluation.Applies knowledge of illnesses, injuries, and diseases and uses available resources in performing the nursing process.Performs timely, comprehensive, and accurate reevaluations and documentation at regular intervals as defined by the department.Contributes to an individualized and appropriate plan of care delineating measurable patient care goalsContributes to the plan of care making necessary changes as the condition of the patient indicates.Bases care decisions on resident needs and care priorities.Monitors patient outcomes.Additional Details Knowledge and Skills:Ability to work in surroundings with degree of dust, noise, etc. without undue discomfortAbility to hear, talk, walk, stand, bend and stretchAbility to read, write and interpret documentsAbility to sit for long periods of time at desk to perform job functionsAbility to stand for long periods of time at required patient bedside and/or procedural areasAbility to communicate effectively with patients and/or co-workersMay be exposed to mechanical/electrical/radiant/explosive/burn and chemical hazardsMay be required to handle, dispose of and/or identify hazardous waste and hazardous materialsMay be required to operate and clean equipmentMay be required to handle/ assist in lifting patients onto/out of exam beds/procedure stationsMust be trained in and knowledgeable of all policies and procedures pertaining to hazardous waste and hazardous materials and maintain qualifications applicable to assigned workKnowledge of all codes and demonstrate understandingPhysical Requirements:Duties performed routinely require exposure to blood, body fluid and tissue.Normal routine involves no exposure to blood, body fluid or tissue, but potential for exposure.
