About The Position**Job Title:** Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT)**Job Specialty:** Med Lab Tech**Job Duration:** 13 weeks**Shift:** Nights 10 hours 7:30 PM - 6:00 AM**Guaranteed Hours:** Not specified**Experience:** 2+ Years Required**License:** ASCP Required**Certifications:** BLS (AHA or Red Cross) Required**Must-Have:**- Blood bank and generalist experience required**Job Description:**- Provide crucial information for diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease by conducting medical laboratory tests, procedures, experiments, and analyses in adherence to established accreditation guidelines and quality control standards.- Determine normal and abnormal components of body fluids by performing chemical analyses of blood, urine, spinal fluids, and gastric juices.- Analyze blood cells by counting and identifying cells using microscopic techniques and procedures.- Prepare blood, plasma, and platelets for transfusions by conducting blood group, type, and compatibility tests.- Ensure the proper functioning of analyzers, spectrophotometers, colorimeters, flame photometers, and other laboratory equipment through calibration, preventive maintenance, and following manufacturer's instructions.- Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions, call for repairs, maintain equipment inventories, and evaluate new equipment and techniques.- Maintain laboratory supplies inventory by checking stock, anticipating needs, placing orders, and verifying receipt of supplies.- Conserve laboratory resources by using equipment and supplies efficiently to achieve job results.- Provide medical technology information by responding to questions and requests.- Prepare reports of technological findings by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data.- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.- Work in compliance with all established QA/QI standards.- Maintain a safe and clean working environment and protect patients and employees by adhering to infection-control, hazardous waste, and other policies and protocols.- Recognize problems, identify causes, and implement solutions when appropriate.- Perform other related duties as required and directed.- Work every 6th weekend.
