About The PositionShift: 11:00 AM - 07:00 PMDescription:Understands and adheres to the facility Performance Standards, Policies and BehaviorsPrepares and positions patients correctly for specific examinations, observing different and special requirements for each protocol including proper documentation on images and required body part questionnairesAssumes responsibilities for designated areas and/or procedures and produces good technical images, reviewing completed scans for quality, completeness for the type of test orderedAssists physicians during procedures as necessaryPerforms quality assurance and calibrations as neededWill be required to work in case of emergency procedures or when situations arise in the departmentMaintains the cleanliness of all areas, equipment, and accessories. Reports all malfunctioning equipment to MRI supervisorPrints patient CD if neededPerforms routine office duties, such as answering the phones, checking previous reports/ films, documents information on patients request, utilizes EMR and PACS systemsNotifies front desk staff upon exam completionShows radiologist images and calls report to attending physician and documents communication if necessary (STAT readings)May be assigned as instructor or preceptorIntroduces themselves and educates each patient or family member regarding the examination that is orderedShould be knowledgeable and skillful in providing care, based on age, physical and psychosocial stature of patient populations; pediatric, adolescent, adults and geriatric groups.Attends staff meetings and in-servicesPerforms all other related duties as assignedEducation& Experience Requirements:Must graduate from an accredited radiography school or hospital-based program.Technologist must be certified by the American Registry of Radiological Technologist (ARRT), ARMRIT become ARRT MR certified within 1 year of hire date.Continuing education requirements need to be upheld to meet the standards set forth by governing bodies. Current standards are 24 ECE credits over a two-year period depending on year of birth.BLS certification through the (AHA) American Heart Association is required or must be completed with 90 days of hire.IV certification preferred or by completion of 6 month orientation.MRI safety certification level 2 required yearly.Requirements & Work Environment:Must be able to remain in stationary position 50% of the timeThe person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside all of the MRI zones to access coils, patients and paperwork.Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machineryThe person in this position frequently communicates with patients who have questions about their bills/financial obligations. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.Must be able to observe and inspect employees and patients in all of the MRI zonesFrequently move and position patients for MRI examsMay be exposed to chemicals necessary to perform required tasks. Any hazardous chemicals the employee may be exposed to are listed in the hospital's SDS (Safety Data Sheet) data base and may be accessed through the hospital's Intranet site (Employee Tools/SDS Access).
