    Job Details
  • Engages in patient and family education; initiates and maintains quality patient care throughout the procedure; considers patients' comfort and emotional needs.
  • Responsible for dose administration and calculations, performs QC procedures, has thorough knowledge and understanding of imaging technologies employed, including theory of operation and rationale for QC procedures performed. Performs imaging procedure
  • Uses techniques that minimize radiation exposure to patient, healthcare personnel and general public through consistent use of protective devices, shields, and monitors. Follows Radiation Safety guidelines for contaminated areas
  • Recognizes malfunctioning equipment and performs minor troubleshooting, performs computer processing and acquired imaging procedures; resolves minor technical problems related to image quality and quantitative results. Archives and retrieves data
  • Ensures safe handling and storage of radioactive materials during the procurement, identification, calibration, preparation, quality control, dose calibration, dispensing, documentation, administration, decay and disposal.
  • Complies with Federal, State and local requirements and regulatory agencies; maintains a clean, safe work environment and observes safety procedures and testing.
  • Collects, reviews and assesses patient data (including prescription) to verify appropriateness, contraindications (including pregnancy and breast feeding), necessary consents, pre-exam preparedness and patient identification. Recognizes signs and symptoms
  • Use radioactive materials in specialized studies of body organs and/or laboratory analysis to assist the physician in the diagnosis of disease and injury.
  • Measure the levels and types of radiation produced by nuclear experiments, power generation, and other activities.
  • Advise others on radiation safety procedures and apparel.
  • Raise warning levels when conditions become hazardous.
  • Ensure that reactors and other equipment are operated safely and efficiently.
  • Evaluate factors such as temperature, pressure, and radiation intensity to determine whether equipment is functioning properly.
  • Make adjustments to improve the performance of reactors and other equipment.
  • Monitor the disposal, recycling, and storage of nuclear waste.
