Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Job Specialty: Medical Surgical Job Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift, 7 PM - 7:30 AM, Every Other Weekend Required 4th Shift Per Month Guaranteed Hours: 34.5 Experience: Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg experience License: NYS RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: - Bachelor of Science with a major in Nursing preferred (Associate's degree considered with relevant experience and/or active matriculation in a BSN Program) - Experience with EPIC highly preferred - 1 year travel experience for travel positions, not required for Per Diem positions Job Description: - Deliver patient care by incorporating the tenets of the professional practice model of Relationship Centered Care and using the nursing process based on theory, research, evidence-based practice, and approved organizational nursing standards. - Assess and evaluate patient care needs, applying critical thinking skills in patient care management. - Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams in the development, implementation, and evaluation of care plans. - Educate patients and caregivers about their plan of care, transition of care, health promotion, and disease prevention. - Communicate effectively and professionally with patients, families, and all members of the Interdisciplinary Patient Care Team. - Role model the principles of Relationship Centered Care through purposeful actions such as Admission Welcome, Bedside Shift Report, and Purposeful Hourly Rounding. - Utilize evidence-based practices to enhance patients' perceptions of care and initiate service recovery for patients and families with concerns. - Practice safe and efficient patient-centered care, identifying and escalating barriers and opportunities for improvement. - Engage in process improvement strategies based on institutional, evidence-based procedures. - Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to create and implement quality improvement projects, evidence-based practice activities, and nursing research studies. - Perform charge nurse duties as assigned and coordinate with leadership to ensure supplies and inventory are sufficient for patient care. - Document accurately and thoroughly in compliance with hospital, regulatory, and legal requirements. - Contribute to creating an environment of care that supports clinical colleagues, patients, families, and members of the healthcare team. - Promote lifelong learning and professional development, advancing clinical competence from novice to expert.
