Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Job Specialty: Medical Surgical (MedSurg) Job Duration: 13-week contract Shift: 12-hour nights, 6:45 PM - 7:15 AM, every other weekend required Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Oregon License required; facility can request a90-day emergency license Certifications: BLS required Must-Have: Experience with MedSurg patients Job Description: - Work in a 53-bed MedSurg unit with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:5 during the day and 1:6 at night. - Care for patients with common diagnoses such as pneumonia, CHF, COPD, sepsis, COVID, stroke, general surgical overflow, and oncology cases. - No requirement to titrate drips; handle Heparin per protocol and antibiotics. - Collaborate with an experienced charge nurse on each shift who does not take on patient assignments. - Assist with patient care tasks alongside nurse aids and patient care techs with ratios of 1:9 during the day and 1:11 at night. - Utilize CPAP and occasional BiPAP equipment; responsibility limited to troubleshooting. - Work with on-site monitor techs; no requirement to read telemetry strips. - Participate in a 2-week rotation core schedule, with the potential for manager-considered block scheduling. - Work every other weekend, with alternating holiday requirements. - Possibility of floating to the surgical floor and PCU as needed within the skill set. - Adhere to the dress code consisting of black pants and a scrub top of choice (solid color or appropriate print). - Undergo specific orientation for the unit with two 12-hour shifts. - Be part of a welcoming team with many new graduates and travelers, with an option to transition to a permanent role if it's a good fit. - Utilize the Meditech charting system. Additional Information - The role does not have an on-call or standby requirement, but there may be up to three standby calls during the contract. - The hospital can cancel up to three times per contract, affecting full or partial shifts, with potential for full-hour payment.
