Job Title: Intensive Care Unit Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Intensive Care Unit Duration: 26 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12.5 Experience: Minimum 2 years of ICU staff experience License: RN License Certifications: Must-Have: Epic experience Description: Competency test required within 48 hours of submission, sent via candidate's email. The unit provides specialized care to the critically ill adult patient aged 14 and older. There is a usual 50/50 split of patient population between neuro and surgical patients. Care includes patients with conditions related to major elective and emergency surgical procedures, multi-trauma, traumatic brain injury, spinal injury, stroke, seizure, sepsis/multi-organ system failure, hemodynamic instability, and failure to wean. Nurses are required to perform comprehensive physical assessments, intensive monitoring, treatment of laboratory values, ventilator management, and hemodynamic monitoring. Skills required include ICP monitoring via EVD and bolt, spinal drains/catheters, brain oxygen monitoring, Artic Sun therapy, continuous EEG, intra-arterial catheter, non-invasive cardiac output, mechanical ventilation, continuous renal replacement therapy, reconstructive flap monitoring, and massive blood transfusion. Nursing support includes on-unit procedures like placement of arterial lines, central lines, external ventricular drains and ICP monitors, SEPS drains, bedside bronchoscopy, abdominal washouts, tracheostomy, percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy tube placement, lumbar punctures, chest tubes, pigtail drains, and others. Must have competency with EVDs, bolts, ICP management along with experience with trauma and complex surgical patients.
