Job Title: Registered Nurse Job Specialty: Operating Room Job Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day, 5x8-Hour (07:00 - 15:00) Guaranteed Hours: Not specified Experience: Minimum 2 years in relevant field License: NC or Compact license required at start Certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS Must-Have: Experience in General OR settings, including Colonoscopy, EGD, Laparoscopic-assisted cases, and various surgical procedures. Job Description: - Work in a General OR setting with experience in a variety of surgical procedures such as appendectomy, cholecystectomy, and total joint replacement. - Administer blood products, conduct cardiac monitoring and conscious sedation monitoring. - Practice infection control and ensure radiation safety. - Handle specimen labeling and starting peripheral IVs efficiently. - Adhere to the Universal Protocol (Time out) Procedure and urinary bladder catheterization. - Operate special equipment including Stryker orthopedic equipment, Olympus lap equipment, and Fugi endoscopy system. - Ensure proficiency with unit systems such as Meditech and Omnicell for documentation and communication. - Work a set schedule with call requirements every other day and every other weekend. - No floating requirement; must work every other weekend. - Engage in handling patient diagnoses ranging from appendicitis to orthopedic cases. - Participate in unit orientation and complete required educational modules. Note: Flu Vaccine is required unless a medical or religious exemption is provided. Completion of specific modules pre-start and annually is necessary, with hours varying by specialty. A willingness to float is required if necessary, adhering to unit guidelines.
