Job Duties:
- Conduct intake assessments through interviews with patients and their relatives to gather comprehensive case history.
- Plan and provide nursing care tailored to individual patient needs.
- Make nursing diagnoses regarding the medical and emotional status of patients and recommend appropriate treatment options.
- Collaborate with psychiatrists and other behavioral health staff to design effective treatment plans for clients.
- Administer psychotropic medications and monitor patient reactions.
- Arrange for further medical attention as necessary.
- Assist clients in understanding their emotional disturbances and the importance of accepting treatment.
- Help maintain a safe and secure environment for both staff and patients.
- Monitor vital signs and ensure proper pain management.
- Document all patient information accurately on medical charts, following physician's orders.
- Uphold patient confidentiality at all times.
- Maintain accurate records of patient treatments, immunizations, and laboratory results according to standard medical recordkeeping practices.
- Perform administrative tasks, including filing, answering phones, typing, and completing progress notes in the computer system.
- Provide courteous, high-quality service to patients and the public by responding to requests for assistance or making appropriate referrals.
Requirements:
- Current NY State Nursing License (Required).
- BLS Certification (AHA) (Required).
- Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience.
- Experience in telemetry nursing.
- Experience in Psych ED or Psych Unit.
