Job Title: Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Registered Nurse (WOC Nurse)**\nJob Summary:\n
A Wound, Ostomy, and Continence (WOC) Registered Nurse (RN) provides specialized care to patients with complex wounds, ostomies, and continence-related issues. WOC RNs assess, plan, and implement individualized care plans to promote wound healing, manage ostomy care, and support patients with continence challenges. They collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive care, education, and support for patients across various healthcare settings.
\n\nKey Responsibilities:\n
\n- Assess, diagnose, and manage patients with chronic or acute wounds, including pressure ulcers, diabetic foot ulcers, surgical wounds, and traumatic injuries.
\n- Develop and implement individualized wound care treatment plans, including the selection of appropriate wound dressings, therapies, and interventions.
\n- Provide ostomy care, including pre-operative and post-operative education, stoma care, and management of complications such as leakage or skin irritation.
\n- Educate patients and their families on wound care, ostomy management, and strategies for promoting skin health and preventing complications.
\n- Collaborate with healthcare providers, dietitians, and therapists to develop comprehensive care plans for patients with wound, ostomy, and continence needs.
\n- Monitor and assess patients' skin integrity, identifying and managing pressure ulcers, skin breakdown, and other wound-related conditions.
\n- Provide counseling and emotional support to patients and families, addressing concerns related to wound care, ostomy care, and quality of life.
\n- Maintain accurate documentation of patient assessments, care plans, interventions, and outcomes.
\n- Advocate for patients in accessing wound care supplies, medications, and appropriate wound or ostomy products.
\n- Participate in wound and ostomy care education and training programs, as well as staff education sessions to promote best practices.
\n- Assist with data collection, quality improvement initiatives, and the development of evidence-based care practices related to wound, ostomy, and continence care.

\n\nQualifications:\n
\n- Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred; Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) accepted.
\n- Licensure:\n
\n- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
\n
\n \n- Certification:\n
\n- Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nurse (WOCN) certification preferred.
\n- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
\n
\n \n- Experience: Previous experience in wound, ostomy, and continence care, or related clinical nursing experience
