**Job Title:** Registered Nurse**Job Specialty:** Wound Care**Job Duration:** 13 weeks**Shift:** 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM**Guaranteed Hours:** 40 hours per week**Experience:** - 2 years of med/surg experience- Wound and colostomy experience required**License:** - Valid New York State RN License- Primary Source Verification- AHA BLS certification**Certifications:**- Certified Wound Ostomy Continence Nurse (CWOCN) issued by the Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nursing Certification Board (WOCNCB)- Certified Wound Ostomy Nurse (CWON) issued by the WOCNCB- Certified Wound Care Nurse (CWCN) issued by the WOCNCB- Certified Wound Specialist (CWS) issued by the American Board of Wound Management (ABWM)- Wound Care Certified Certification (WCC) issued by the National Alliance of Wound Care and Ostomy (NAWCO)**Must-Have:** - Wound Care Certification- Excellent customer service skills- Community outreach experience**Job Description:**- Conduct health assessment interviews focused on wound, ostomy, and continence care.- Perform focused physical assessments and develop care plans based on diagnosis and client needs.- Recommend medications and treatments as appropriate.- Develop, revise, and evaluate standards of care, assisting in selecting supplies, technology, and equipment.- Assess and document patient response to wound care, ostomy, continence, fistula, and complex wounds treatment.- Evaluate the quality and delivery of care provided by clinical staff.- Collaborate with the healthcare team and make referrals to other disciplines as needed.- Teach, counsel, and assist individuals and families in preventing complications related to ostomies, wounds, or continence problems.- Develop, provide, and evaluate staff education programs, such as new employee orientation, in-services, and continuing education programs.- Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients at risk for developing pressure injuries, and initiate preventative measures.- Communicate and escalate challenges, including ethical issues and conflict resolution.- Collaborate with the Assistant Director of Nursing for Wound Care to recommend best practices.- Participate in Quality Improvement activities, including incidence and prevalence studies, and nursing quality initiatives.- Provide culturally competent patient, family, and staff education consistent with belief systems.- Maintain the security and confidentiality of data and information in accordance with patient rights policies.- Achieve and maintain a level of professional competency through engaging in activities consistent with clinical practice.- Identify community resources helpful to clients and assist them in utilizing such resources.- Manage assets related to rented equipment, such as specialty beds and negative pressure devices.- Travel to patients' homes to complete wound care consults when needed, handling an average of 15 to 20 consults a day.
