Key Responsibilities:
- Occupational therapists assess the client's physical, cognitive, emotional, and environmental factors that may affect their ability to perform daily activities
- Based on the assessment, OTs develop individualized treatment plans to address specific challenges and goals. These plans may include exercises, activities, and adaptations to enhance independence and function
- Occupational therapists work directly with clients to implement the treatment plans. This may involve therapeutic exercises, activities, adaptive equipment, and environmental modifications
- OTs educate clients and their families about their condition, treatment strategies, and ways to manage daily activities more effectively
- Occupational therapists often recommend and teach the use of adaptive techniques and assistive devices to help individuals overcome challenges and perform tasks independently
- Occupational therapists collaborate with other healthcare professionals, such as physicians, physical therapists, speech therapists, and social workers, to provide comprehensive care
- OTs work with individuals experiencing mental health challenges to develop coping strategies, improve social skills, and enhance overall mental well-being
- In occupational settings, OTs may assess and modify work environments to promote safety and productivity for employees
Qualifications:
- Valid Occupational Therapy Certification in the state of practice
- 1 year recent Occupational Therapy experience in a rehab setting
- BLS Certification
