BASIC KNOWLEDGEAND PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTSMust possess a current license in PA as a registerednurseMust possess knowledge of: medical asepsis, body mechanics, personalcare of residents, correct use and care of equipment, observation techniques,reporting and recording, thorough knowledge of nursing theory and it'sapplicationMust be willing to possess knowledge of and comply withregulations, policies, procedures, contracts and philosophy of the institutionMust maintain a courteous and professional manner towardresidents, visitors and co-workers and a dedication to meet the needs of theelderlyMust have awareness of cost containment, utilize timefully, and properly care for equipmentMust possess ability to accept and follow written andverbal directivesMust utilize good communication and observation skillsExercise independent judgment and effectively deal withemergency situationsGENERAL DUTIESPhysician's Computer Company: EHR/EMRAdministers and records medication, treatments andmonitoring e.g. glucose checks, as ordered and reports and documents residentresponseAccurately transcribes physician's ordersCompletes monthly summaries as scheduledReviews the care plan with NAs on monthly summary dayand updates the care plan to reflect the resident s current condition.Notifies the RN Supervisor immediately of a significantchange in resident s conditionReports and records changes in resident condition to theRN SupervisorCommunicates resident transfers to immediate family andvia email to department headsCompletes transfer form for all transfersUpdates care plans with clear, concise, time limitedgoals to reflect resident condition and directs team to implement approachesAssists physicians with rounds, examinations andtreatments as neededCollects laboratory specimens e.g.: urine, cultures,stool, etc. and arranges for delivery to Hospital with accurate and completerequisitions. Documents in PCC whenlaboratory work is doneOn resident death, supervises and assists with postmortem procedures. Assists with collection of resident's clothing andbelongings.
