Job Title: Respiratory Therapist - Per DiemJob Specialty: Acute Respiratory CareJob Duration: 12Shift: 1x12.0Guaranteed Hours: No guaranteed hours, per diem as neededExperience: Previous acute care experience preferredLicense: NYS Licensure Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS preferredMust-Have: - Strong collaboration skills with patients, families, peers, physicians, and other healthcare team members.- Ability to assess patient needs, develop and contribute to care plans, implement, and evaluate respiratory regimens.Job Description:- Render highly professional and technical care to patients requiring specialized respiratory interventions.- Collaborate with healthcare team members to deliver services to a specific patient population.- Assess patient needs and develop plans of care based on age-appropriate knowledge, hospital policies, and professional standards.- Communicate effectively with patients and families, promoting knowledge of disease processes, medical therapies, and self-care.- Obtain and analyze physiological specimens, interpret data, and perform tests and studies of the cardiopulmonary system.- Document and report results in the medical record accurately.- Apply and monitor medical gases, environmental control systems, mechanical ventilator support, airway management, and bronchopulmonary hygiene.- Engage in pharmacological procedures related to respiratory care, cardiopulmonary rehabilitation, and hemodynamic cardiovascular support.- Maintain current knowledge and competency in respiratory care practices.- Participate in mentoring and orienting new staff, and consider factors related to safety, cost, and impact in care delivery.
