Job Title: Endoscopy Technician (Contract)

Job Summary:The Endoscopy Technician will perform various duties as a member of the health team in the treatment and care of patients and their families, assisting with tasks to support the unit. The role includes working under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) and requires demonstrating knowledge of the principles of human growth and development throughout the lifespan. The technician must be able to recognize patient status data and inform the RN of any observations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist with patient treatment and care, working closely with the health team.
- Monitor and take vital signs as necessary.
- Perform EKGs and assist with medical procedures as required.
- Place pulse oximetry and perform routine maintenance/cleaning of equipment.
- Notify appropriate personnel regarding any equipment malfunctions.
- Assist in inventory control for medical supplies.
- Set up oxygen and suction as needed.
- Collect specimens and deliver them to the lab when necessary.
- Stock exam rooms with educational materials.
- Retrieve endoscopy reports from the computer system as needed.
- Provide instruction and information to patients.
- Act swiftly and calmly during emergencies, including initiating CPR and providing necessary items called for by the team.
- Transport patients and equipment as required.
- Perform all duties involving direct patient care as assigned by the RN, adhering to the New York State Nurse Practice Act and BIMC policies and procedures.
