Weekends and Holidays requiredBLS required // Highschool Diploma/GED. Preferred: post secondary education in related field/Medical Terminology One year acute care experience in a hospital setting.Complete : year acute care experience in hospital setting. Computer literacyrequiredPreferred: Phlebotomy, EKG, ED Experience, Medical Terminology coursePerforms Phlebotomy, EKGs, patient transport,hygiene care, vitals, weights, pulse oximetry, and assists with proceduresperformed by the MD and RN. Accurately inputs all Radiology, Laboratory, and EKG orders into the Meditech system in a timely mannerMinimum: Ability to organize, plan and accomplish assignments under supervision of a Registered Professional Nurse. Excellent interpersonal, communication(written and oral), and organizational skills. Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion and ability to deal with internal and external customers in a professional and courteous manner. Computer literacy required with word processing, Preferred: Experience with Microsoft Office products and electronic medical record, Meditech. Excel and spreadsheets.Under the direction of aqualified Registered Nurse, performs various patient care activities andrelated clerical functions that support the clinical operations of theEmergency Department. Provides technicalsupport and participates in unit activities as a team member. Participates inunit, departmental, and organizational improvement activities as assigned. Responsible for review, completion andterminal filing of ED records.Develops and maintains department filing system,Identifies filing method and communications to department personnel. Managesdepartmental mail expeditiously. Establishes and maintains an inventory of thedepartmental office supplies to ensure staff has materials required to performtheir responsibilities. Completes bi-weekly supply order, restocks roomson a daily basis with linen and supplies according to established levels,restocks suture carts, and maintains clean utility room in an orderly manner. Accurately conveys messages coming into theDepartment, places call at MD and RN request, and identifies self to callers ina courteous manner. Ensures all visitors and telephone calls are handledin a courteous and friendly manner. Keeps visitors informed if there is adelay. Answers telephone timely and compete messages and forwards calls whennecessary. Transfers call correctly introducing caller as instructed.Ensures all orders are entered into Meditechsystem as required accurately and timely. Inputs all discharges informationincluding transfers, LBE/AMA, 48 hour returns, deaths and attending MD.Demonstrates behaviors consistent with the Healing Environment principles of being professional, communicating effectively and attending to the environment. This is evidenced by work behavior which ensures safety, promotes dignity, respect, well being, and exemplifies healthy relationships.Must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned unit. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development of the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed by pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patient group.Occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens is reasonably anticipated.Required tasks involve a potential contact with blood, body fluids, and tissues.Keeps patient and significant others informed ofprocess of care, maintains an awareness of the patient's needs throughout theER visit, and attempts to meet those needs.
