Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced Traveling Commercial Construction Superintendent to oversee the on-site management of commercial construction projects throughout the country. The Superintendent will be responsible for managing day-to-day field operations, ensuring that all work is completed in accordance with plans, specifications, and quality standards while prioritizing job site safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- On-Site Management: Oversee all on-site activities for commercial construction projects, including coordinating subcontractors, managing schedules, and ensuring quality standards are met.
- Project Scheduling: Develop and maintain construction schedules, ensuring that milestones and completion dates are achieved. Monitor project progress and address any delays or issues that arise.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure that all work is completed to the highest quality standards. Conduct regular inspections to verify that construction activities align with plans, specifications, and industry standards.
- Team Leadership: Supervise and direct field personnel, including subcontractors, laborers, and site staff. Promote a culture of teamwork and collaboration to achieve project goals.
- Safety Management: Implement and enforce safety protocols to ensure a safe work environment for all on-site personnel. Conduct daily safety meetings and ensure compliance with OSHA guidelines.
- Subcontractor Coordination: Manage and coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors to ensure that work is performed efficiently and according to schedule. Hold regular meetings to address progress and resolve any issues.
- Communication & Reporting: Serve as the primary point of contact between the project team, subcontractors, and stakeholders. Provide regular updates to the Project Manager regarding project status, site conditions, and potential challenges.
- Problem Solving: Identify potential issues and develop solutions to ensure that the project remains on schedule and within budget. Address any conflicts that arise on-site in a timely and effective manner.
- Change Orders: Manage changes in project scope, including documentation and communication with stakeholders. Ensure that any change orders are implemented according to client requirements.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate records of daily activities, including site logs, manpower reports, equipment usage, and other relevant documentation.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 4 years of experience as a Superintendent in commercial construction.
- Proven experience managing ground-up and tenant improvement projects in commercial sectors such as retail, office, hospitality, or industrial.
- Strong understanding of construction processes, building codes, safety regulations, and quality standards.
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and contracts.
- Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Procore, MS Project) and scheduling tools.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills with a focus on teamwork and collaboration.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing project conditions.
- Willingness to travel extensively and stay on-site for the duration of the project.
- Valid drivers license and ability to pass background checks as required by clients.
