LOCATION: This role is a traveling position. You may work on various project sites across the US. Per diem will be provided for those willing to travel and work onsite.
ABOUT THE JOB
The Tepa Companies are seeking a Journeyman II Electrician who is responsible for installing and repairing complex electrical control, wiring, and lighting systems from a technical blueprint.
Job Functions:
* Plans new or modified installations to minimize waste of materials, provide access for future maintenance, and avoid unsightly, hazardous, and unreliable wiring, consistent with specifications and local electrical codes.
* Prepares sketches showing location of wiring and equipment, or follows diagrams or blueprints, ensuring that concealed wiring is installed before completion of future walls, ceilings, and flooring.
* Measures, cuts, bends, threads, assembles, and installs electrical conduit, using tools, such as hacksaw, pipe threader, and conduit bender.
* Pulls wiring through conduit, assisted by an electrician helper.
* Splices wires by stripping insulation from terminal leads, using knives or pliers, twisting or soldering wires together, and applying tape or terminal caps.
* Connects wiring to lighting fixtures and power equipment, using hand tools.
* Connects power cables to equipment, such as electric range or motor, and installs grounding leads.
* Tests continuity of circuit to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components, using testing instruments, such as an ohmmeter, battery and buzzer, and oscilloscope.
* Observe the functioning of installed equipment or system to detect hazards and need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement.
* Repairs faulty equipment or systems.
* Cuts and welds steel structural members, using flame-cutting and welding equipment.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
* 4 years of verified trade experience
* 2 years of verified Industrial/Fuels experience
* Must have a working knowledge of various test equipment
* Must know about electrical systems, power generation, blueprints, and maintenance and repair
* Must be able to communicate clearly with Superintendents, Operators, Laborers, and all other personnel on site
* Must be able to understand, read, and write in English
* Must be able to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and written instructions
* Must have a working knowledge of the National Electric Code, and applicable Unified Facilities Guide Specifications and Unified Facilities Criteria
* Must be able to assist in troubleshooting and have a strong attention to detail
* State-issued electrician's license is required
* Must be able to pass a background check required to access US military installations
* Must have a valid driver's license
