The minimum salary is $24.143 per hour
This position is eligible for overtime (non-exempt), if applicable.
Pay Grade 518
This position is eligible to receive hazardous duty supplemental pay at $90/month ($0.52 per hour) upon hire.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The purpose of this classification is to operate a wastewater treatment plant to ensure water discharged is in compliance with local, state, and federal laws and regulations related to health and public safety.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
* High school diploma, GED, or equivalent and the completion of one (1) year of college education or specialized advanced training in a related field
* Two (2) years of experience operating a wastewater treatment plant, one (1) of which must be in a wastewater treatment plant with a design capacity greater than 50,000 gallons per day
* Additional years of related education may substitute for years of experience
* Additional years of related experience may substitute for years of education
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
* Monitors treatment plant operations using a Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system and responds to any system alarms and events
* Performs regular rounds of daily plant inspections to monitor operating conditions, make adjustments and report required repairs to maintenance staff or management as needed
* Records operational data, and/or meter and gauge readings on specified forms and reports
* Collects and tests water and sewage samples; sends samples to the water quality laboratory for analysis
* Adds chemicals, such as chlorine, or lime, to disinfect and deodorize water and other liquids
* Performs related work as assigned
SPECIAL LICENSE/CERTIFICATION
All Certifications and licenses must be maintained as a condition of employment.
* Must possess and maintain a valid Kentucky Class III Wastewater Treatment Plant Operators License or its equivalent from another state. Those with an equivalent from another state are required to have it converted to a Kentucky Class III License within six (6) months as a condition of employment.
* Valid Driver's License
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
* All positions require drug testing and background check before employment and may require a post-job offer physical as stated in Ordinances 21-14(b), 22-13 and 23-16.
* Positions must be accessible for on-call duty and be able to work shifts, weekends, and holidays as assigned and during emergencies.
