Learn more about PPWhealth by visiting our website at www.ppwhealth.com.Position SummaryTriage staff work as members of multidisciplinary teams to help patients who suffer from chronic pain maximize their quality of life. They serve as patient advocates to obtain pain medications. They may work as liaisons with vocational programs to assist patients who suffer with pain issues return to work. Triage staff primarily work via telephone.* Answering phones.* Responding promptly to each incoming call.* Assessing patient condition.* Thoroughly completing documentation.* Prior authorization for medication.* Communicating with Physicians and NP/PA.* Making critical assessments* Directing patients to the most appropriate form of care once they have found out as much information from the patient as possible.* They recommend either that the patient seeks emergency treatment, schedules a consultation with a doctor or treats the condition themselves.* All other duties as assigned.Qualifications* High School diploma or equivalent. Successful completion of an accredited Licensed Practical Nursing program.* Strong organizational, judgment, communication, and analytical skills; sometimes under pressure.* Ability to multi-task and perform multiple priorities.* Cooperative and professional behavior toward patients, peers, providers, organizational leadership, and visitors.* Ability to promote favorable facility image with patients, providers, insurance companies and general public.* Ability to work independently, make decisions, and problem solve.* Evidence of leadership qualities. Frequently contributing to the improvement of the department and participate in committee participation, task force, etc.* Ability to contribute to a team environment and to provide excellent customer service.* Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.Licenses & Certifications* Current certification or registration as Medical Assistant from an accredited certification agency preferred if working in the ASC, required if position is in the Clinic.* BLS certified or obtain certification within three months of hirePre-Employment TestingThis position requires the following pre-employment testing:Criminal & Caregiver Background Check, renewed every four yearsProfessional Reference CheckTB & Rubella ScreenDrug ScreenPlease note that this job description is intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by the employee(s) assigned to this job.
