Job Summary:
Registered Nurse (RN) provides professional nursing care to patients within the practice, located in the Hill building of Upstate University Hospital. The RN is expected to help assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care while overseeing the work of the licensed practical nurse, and ancillary staff in the Practice.
Triage Nurse will Monitor and address all patient /provider telephone and electronic correspondence . They will contact the provider for orders and treatment plan for the patient . Then call the patient with treatment plan, providing the necessary education for the patient to verbalize his/her understanding .
This correspondence is documented in Epic IN-BASKET . In-Basket consists of several Work Pools / Work Que's
PATIENT CALLS :
All Patient calls to the office ; must be reviewed by the RN and determination is made to speak with provider ( MD, NP, Fellow, or pharmacist)
Care plan is formed by provider and the RN. This can include, but not limited to; writing orders or prescriptions and writing patient letters for work/ school excuses. RN will then carry out the orders and return the call to the patient with the treatment plan to the patient's satisfaction and understanding . Provide patient education for any new medications/treatment plan.
PATIENT PRESCRIPTION REFILLS (sent electronically from pharmacies to the office) :
Review to refill or deny all medications daily . All prescriptions need to be evaluated for refill appropriateness. Reviewing patient appointments for compliance , accuracy of medication dose and/or continuation .
MY CHART MESSAGES (patient email messages) :
Must be reviewed by RN and determination is made to speak with provider ( MD, NP, Fellow, or pharmacist)

This position is remote, requires internet service and private working space
Minimum Qualifications:
NYS licensed/registered RN. Prior experience in an outpatient setting (specialty area) strongly preferred. Current CPR certification through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross is required and ACLS is required.
