TRIO McNair Program Coordinator/AdvisorThe TRIO Ronald E. McNair Post Baccalaureate Achievement Program (McNair Program) enrolls eligible undergraduate students yearly who are first-generation, low-income, or underrepresented in graduate education, and prepares them for post-baccalaureate study. This program is one of the federal TRIO educational opportunity programs funded under Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965.Job Description:The TRIO McNair Program Coordinator/Advisor position reports directly to the Director of the McNair Program. You should have knowledge of, and experience in working with undergraduate students from diverse backgrounds, including first-generation and those underrepresented in graduate education. This program prepares undergraduate students from disadvantaged backgrounds who have demonstrated strong academic potential for doctoral studies through involvement in research and other scholarly activities. This position provides scholars with program support, individual and group advising to ensure successful completion of undergraduate studies and subsequent matriculation into graduate programs, which are important services to the McNair Program at Dillard University.Job Requirements: In addition, you will:
- Provide personal, academic, financial, career oriented and study skills-based advising to students in the program to support their growth, development, and successful matriculation into graduate school immediately following graduation from Dillard
- Monitor student progress, documenting participation in program services via program software module, referring students to other campus stakeholders for assistance and support when necessary
- Coordinate graduate school admissions seminars each semester during the academic year on various topics in accordance with program objectives
- Assist with the recruitment, outreach, and identification of potential new McNair scholars across academic disciplines
- Coordination with program director on all aspects of the program, including identification and selection of participants, and implementation of programming, metrics and reporting (Annual Performance Report to the Department of Education), etc.
- Provide administrative support for the program (i.e., purchasing, budget tracking, processing reimbursements, screens incoming calls/mail/email correspondence and responds independently when possible. etc.). This position will work closely with the division of Business & Finance to process all documents in a timely fashion.
- Create communication/flyers and other marketing materials to promote the program to university and external stakeholders
- Assist with the supervision of work study students.

Qualifications:Bachelor's degree with at least 2 years of relevant experience working with first-generation, economically disadvantaged, and/or underrepresented students at a college or university, or a combination of work experience with similar youth populations in high school or community programs. Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, ability to juggle multiple priorities, and excellent written and oral communication skills. Strong attention to detail is necessary. Proficiency with computer applications including database management, presentation, spreadsheet, and word processing software.Preferred:
- Master's degree and familiarity with the graduate school process and opportunities to apply for graduate school grants and fellowships.
- Prior experience with federal TRIO Program(s)
- Familiarity with higher education administrative systems, policies, and procedures
