We believe these are crucial to the success of an individual within the company and for the overall success of the company.SummaryThis position has a focus on driving a 53' tractor/trailer to outside vendors to deliver and pickup raw and finished goods. This role will include other material handling responsibilities including safely and efficiently operating a variety of vehicles, loading, unloading, receiving, stocking, picking, and shipping components, assemblies, and finished product. In order to meet objectives, this position will be cross trained, and able to operate all necessary equipment in a variety of areas.Principal Responsibilities, (Other duties may be assigned)To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.Safely and efficiently load, unload, and deliver components/assemblies to facilities as needed operating our equipment including forklifts, a 26' box truck and a 53' tractor/trailer.Operational SafetyOperate within facility safety guidelines and promote the use of safe practices.Report defects, accidents or violations.Maintain safety and housekeeping standards.Inspect vehicles for mechanical items and safety issues and perform preventative maintenanceDriving ResponsibilitiesTransport finished goods and raw materials over land to and from manufacturing facilities or retail and distribution centersPlan routes to meet delivery schedulesDocument and log work/rest periods and miles spent driving and retain fuel/toll receiptsManeuver trucks into loading and unloading positionsCollect and verify delivery instructionsComply with truck driving rules and regulations (size, weight, route designations, parking and break periods) as well as with company policies and proceduresEnsure that all applicable pre and post trip equipment inspections are completed in a timely mannerContact carriers and provide appropriate shipping documentation.FlexibilityWhile not driving, rotate jobs as required to maintain cross training status in the material coordination role.Knowledge of product descriptions, production scheduling/tracking and control systems.Receive and store materials in multiple environments including non-production items.Move components and/or assemblies to meet daily requirements.Follow Standardized Work criteria for the use of Kanban, transfers, shipping, and other related procedures.Participate in problem solving and other continuous improvement opportunities.Education, Experience, and SkillsHigh School diploma or GED and skill level training and/or experience in related field. Must have a license to operate a fork truck and cranes. Must have a current CDL Class A license and maintain a valid DOT medical card.Mathematical and ReasoningMust be able to read, comprehend, and write basic instructions. Must be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in common units of measure. Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed instructions and deal with problems involving concrete variables.Physical Requirements and Work EnvironmentMust be able to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for up to 10 hours, bend and twist 80% of the time and work in an environment that can be hot, cold and noisy.
