You are here: 1 / Truck Driver to haul U.S. Mail The pay is $20.99 per hour plus an additional $3.36 per hour cash benefits to help the driver buy his own insurance. The company puts $1.75 per hour into the 401k plan. Vacation can either be paid per hours worked or banked for leave use the following year. Vacation is pro-rated on hours worked. Pro-rated two weeks after a year, 3 weeks after 10 years and 4 weeks after 15 years. The position can be filled part-time at approx. 23 hours a week (Monday, Friday, and possibly alternating Saturdays) or full time at approx. 40+ hours a week depending on which option the new hire prefers. The position starts in Tell City at 4:15 am. The mail is unloaded from a semi, sorted and loaded onto the box trucks. This position driver then hauls the mail to Bristow, St. Meinrad, and Santa Claus post offices. There is a partially paid layover in Santa Claus between 8:00am and noon. The driver then makes two afternoon collection trips from those towns, ending in Tell City at 4:00 pm some days and approx. 1:30 pm on other days depending on the arrangement decided upon with the shared senior driver. The route can be somewhat tailored to fit the two drivers as long as the set postal schedule times are met.
