Job Description:
Key Accountabilities
  • Ensures the safe operation of the vacuum truck at all times, adhering to traffic laws, company policies, and safety regulations.
  • Collects various materials, including liquids, sludges, and solids, using the vacuum system from designated locations such as tanks, pits, and containment areas.
  • Transports collected materials safely to designated disposal sites or processing facilities, following assigned routes and schedules.
  • Loads and secures collected materials properly on the vacuum truck for transportation, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and safety standards.
  • Performs pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vacuum truck and equipment, identifying and reporting any mechanical issues or malfunctions to supervisors.
  • Adheres to company policies, safety procedures, and environmental regulations to minimize risks and ensure compliance with legal requirements.
  • Maintains accurate records of material collection, transportation activities, and any incidents or accidents that occur during operations.
  • Communicates with team members, supervisors, and clients to coordinate job tasks, address concerns, and provide updates on job progress.
  • Identifies and resolves any operational issues or challenges encountered during material collection and transportation, seeking assistance from supervisors or support staff as needed.
  • Provides excellent customer service by responding to client inquiries, addressing concerns promptly, and maintaining a professional demeanor at all times.
  • Complies with all the Company's Safety and Environmental policies, practices, and programs.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Education, Certificates, Licenses
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Must have a valid Commercial Class A driver's license with tanker endorsement.
  • Hazmat endorsement preferred.
Experience
  • One year minimum commercial driving experience and/or experience in an oilfield services environment or with/around heavy industrial machinery in the manufacturing, fabrication, transportation, construction, railroad, mining, shipyard, or agricultural equipment industries
Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesCritical:
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures related to vacuum truck operation and material handling.
  • Proficient in the operation of a vacuum system to safely and efficiently suction and collect various materials.
  • Exhibits strong driving skills with a focus on safety, including maneuvering and operating a large commercial vehicle.
  • Demonstrated physical stamina and strength to perform manual tasks involved in material collection and loading.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail to ensure proper loading and securement of collected materials, effectively minimizing the risk of spills or accidents.
Required:
  • Knowledge of the types of materials commonly collected and transported by vacuum trucks, including liquids, sludges, and solids.
  • Ability to conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vacuum truck and equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and clients.
  • Ability to adapt readily to changing job requirements and environmental conditions.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, maintaining professionalism and focusing on job tasks.
Desired:
  • Knowledge of routes and navigation tools to effectively plan transportation routes and schedules.
  • Ability to apply an understanding of basic mechanical principles to troubleshoot and address minor equipment issues.
  • Ability to maintain proficiency in record-keeping to ensure accurate logs of material collection, transportation activities, and incidents or accidents.
  • Exhibits excellent customer service skills, responding to client inquiries and addressing concerns professionally.
  • Exhibits flexibility in working long hours, weekends, and holidays as required to meet job demands.
  • Displays willingness to undergo additional training or certifications related to vacuum truck operation and safety.
Work Environment
  • Heavy Work- Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Medium Work.
  • Exposed to outdoor elements such as extreme heat or cold, heavy winds, rain, or snow.
  • Exposed to loud noise level elements.
  • Required to drive to and access job sites, in light of day as well as in darkness, to perform work assignments. Some job site locations may be remote from the office requiring long drives to locations isolated from interaction with others and towns.
  • Required to balance, bend, squat, crouch, climb, reach, grasp, stoop, kneel, push/pull and lift objects, and use apparatus to push/pull and lift heavy objects weighing 50 lbs or more.
  • Subject to exposure to hazards such as but not limited to slippery or uneven surfaces; environmental/industry hazards such as chemicals, high-decibel noise from production equipment, fumes, or poor ventilation; proximity to moving objects and vehicles; potentially combustible components; hazardous off- road conditions such as dust, ice, and snow.
  • May be requested to work long hours to complete job assignments.
  • May work a rotating schedule, shift, and/or be on call.
  • Follow all company safety policies and protocols.
  • Required to perform active, physical tasks including but not limited to operating equipment and/or machinery and making adjustments and repairs.
  • Required to have visual acuity to work with parts, equipment, apparatus, etc.
  • Required to possess audible acuity to hear alarms in the event of emergency.
