Job Description:

Looking for an experienced Truss Designer specializing in the design and fabrication of high-quality truss systems for residential, commercial, and industrial construction projects.

Position Overview: As a Truss Designer, you will play a critical role in developing efficient and cost-effective truss designs that meet structural requirements, building codes, and client specifications. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of structural engineering principles, truss software proficiency, and a keen eye for detail to ensure quality and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design roof and floor truss systems based on project specifications, architectural drawings, and engineering requirements.

  • Utilize industry-standard software such as MiTek, Alpine, or AutoCAD to create accurate truss layouts, designs, and shop drawings.

  • Analyze structural loads, material constraints, and building codes to optimize truss systems for performance and cost efficiency.

  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, contractors, and production teams to ensure alignment with project goals and deadlines.

  • Review and revise truss designs based on client feedback or site adjustments while maintaining structural integrity.

  • Prepare material takeoffs and cost estimates for truss components to assist in project budgeting.

  • Ensure compliance with local and national building codes, safety regulations, and company quality standards.

  • Address and resolve design-related challenges during fabrication or installation phases.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Associate's degree or higher in Structural Engineering, Drafting, Architecture, or related field preferred.

  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in truss design or structural drafting in the construction industry.

  • Software Proficiency: Expertise in MiTek, Alpine, AutoCAD, or equivalent truss design software is required.

  • Project Experience: Experience with Multifamily, Trac, and Spec homes is highly preferred.

  • Strong understanding of structural engineering principles, load calculations, and material properties.

  • Familiarity with building codes, safety standards, and construction processes.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to optimize designs for performance, cost, and manufacturability.

  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy in design and documentation.

  • Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
