Position Overview:We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Trust and Estates Attorney to join our team in Richmond, Virginia. The ideal candidate will have a passion for estate planning, trust administration, and providing sophisticated legal counsel to affluent clients. This role offers an opportunity to work on complex estate matters, including those involving high-net-worth clients, family businesses, and generational wealth planning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide legal advice and guidance on estate planning, trust administration, and probate matters
  • Draft and review wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and other estate planning documents
  • Advise high-net-worth clients on tax-efficient wealth transfer strategies, including gifting and charitable planning
  • Handle complex estate administration, including contested matters and trust modifications
  • Collaborate with financial advisors, accountants, and other professionals to provide comprehensive wealth management services
  • Stay informed on changes in tax laws, trust regulations, and estate planning trends

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
  • Admission to the Virginia State Bar (in good standing)
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in trust and estates law, with a focus on high-net-worth clients
  • Strong understanding of tax law as it relates to estate planning
  • Experience in drafting complex estate planning documents
  • Excellent communication and client management skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
  • A commitment to providing outstanding client service

Preferred Qualifications:

  • LL.M. in Taxation or Estate Planning
  • Experience working with family offices or ultra-high-net-worth clients
  • Certifications such as Certified Trust and Financial Advisor (CTFA) or Accredited Estate Planner (AEP) are a plus
