Job DetailsJob Description:We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Trust & Estate Attorney to join our dynamic legal team in New York. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in trust and estate law, possess exceptional analytical and interpersonal skills, and demonstrate a commitment to providing top-notch legal services to our clients. - Client Consultation: Meet with clients to discuss their estate planning needs, goals, and concerns. Provide expert legal advice on estate planning, asset protection, and wealth transfer strategies.
- Estate Planning: Draft, review, and revise a wide range of estate planning documents, including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and advance directives.
- Trust Administration: Advise fiduciaries on the administration of trusts, ensuring compliance with legal and fiduciary responsibilities.
- Probate Proceedings: Represent clients in probate court, handling all aspects of the probate process, including the preparation and filing of necessary documents.
- Tax Planning: Provide guidance on estate and gift tax planning, and prepare relevant tax documents to optimize tax efficiency for clients.
- Dispute Resolution: Handle trust and estate disputes, including litigation if necessary, and work towards amicable resolutions whenever possible.
- Legal Research: Stay current on developments in estate and trust law, and apply this knowledge to client cases and firm practices.
- Client Relationship Management: Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring a high level of client satisfaction and trust.
- Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other attorneys and staff within the firm to provide comprehensive legal services.
Qualifications:
- Education: Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
- Bar Admission: Must be admitted to the New York State Bar and in good standing.
- Experience: At least 2 years of experience in trust and estate law.
- Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. - Excellent written and verbal communication abilities. - High attention to detail and organizational skills. - Ability to manage multiple clients and deadlines effectively. - Proficiency in legal research tools and estate planning software. Preferred Qualifications:
- Proven track record of successful estate and trust litigation.
- Familiarity with New York State probate and estate tax laws.
