All of Lansing School District's team members are dedicated to our mission to provide an excellent education to all students in a safe and nurturing environment.The Lansing School District, in partnership with the Lansing Schools Education Association, is seeking dynamic and highly effective educators to join our team as Turnaround Teachers for grades K-8 (Elementary, Middle grades core content, Special Education and Elective/Specials). This role is designed to provide specialized support to students and drive transformative academic outcomes within our district. The position offers an enhanced compensation rate and a unique opportunity to shape the future of education in Lansing. Placement will be determined by the District's Instructional Leadership Team.     • Position Type: Full-time (1.2 FTE, additional pay rate applies)

    • Duration: January 6, 2024 - End of the 2024-2025 Academic Year •Compensation: 1.2 FTE pay rate (to sunset after the 2024-2025 school year)
Sample Pay Rates
    • MA Level 5 (4 years of teaching experience): Normal 1.0 FTE = $52,798 - Turnaround Teacher 1.2 FTE = $63,357
    • MA Level 10: Normal 1.0 FTE = $67,336 -Turnaround Teacher 1.2 FTE = $80,803
    • MA Level 15: Normal 1.0 FTE = $75,315 - Turnaround Teacher 1.2 FTE = $90,378
Primary Responsibilities
    • Serve as the Teacher of Record with assigned rostered students, including Special Education caseloads and DIAFL schedules.
    • Engage in full-time teaching responsibilities to qualify for the additional pay rate.
    • Collaborate with staff and leadership to implement innovative strategies for student success.
    • Follow district approved curriculum and pacing.
    • Demonstrate effective instructional practices.
    • Use data to inform and drive student achievement to positively impact student outcomes in both growth and proficiency.
    • Assist in developing and maintaining school processes, procedures, and norms.
Qualifications
    • Hold a valid Michigan Teaching Certification.
    • Mastery of content knowledge and pedagogy aligned with standards-based instruction.
    • Possess a minimum of three years of effective teaching experience.
    • Demonstrated commitment to driving academic improvement and working within a turnaround model.
    • Demonstrated history of using data to inform and drive student achievement.
    • Proven ability to build relationships with students and families from diverse backgrounds.
    • Proven track record of raising student achievement, particularly with students who are underperforming or in challenging circumstances.
$56,330 - $95,000 a yearWe honor years of experience in equivalent roles, and we honor additional degrees beyond a BA/BS.This is a 1.2 FTE role. Employment Transition (Internal Applicants) Internal applicants transitioning to this role will have the option to return to their previous or a similar position in the same building for the 2025-2026 school year. Alternatively, they may continue in this position at the standard contractual pay rate.
