Basic Function: Under the supervision of the Program Director, delivers academic tutoring to students in the 6th, 7th and 8th grades.Reporting Relationship:Reports To: Program DirectorSupervises (Position Title): NonePrincipal Duties/Responsibilities:
- Reviews material provided by school administrator and is able to present concepts that increases and improve students' skill set.
Reading Specialist. Know principles being taught.
- Attend joint training, planning and preparation sessions under directsupervision of Reading Specialist.
Facilitate and assist with planning enrichment activity and workshop.
- Organize tutorial materials/supplies before each tutorial session.
- Maintain accurate student information, i.e. attendance, test scores, progressreports, phone numbers and addresses.
- Document student problems/concerns and communicate the program director and/or program coordinator immediately.
- Keep a log/journal of tutoring activities and experiences as a self-evaluation.
- Learn the names of students right away.
- Conduct tutoring sessions with both individuals and small groups under the supervision of the Program Director.
- Provide personal support to enable students to overcome obstacles to success.
Requirements:
- Successful completion of at least three years of undergraduate study.
- Ability to act as a role model and a mentor.
- Some previous work experience or coursework with tutoring andmentoring to elementary school-aged students.
- Ability to work part-time, afternoon to evening hours.
