Ozarka College invites applications for the position of Tutor Coordinator for TRIO Student Support Services (SSS). This position is a 9 1/2 month, grant-funded position. Under the supervision of the Director of TRIO, the Tutor Coordinator will be responsible for the implementation of the program services related to tutoring.Ozarka College is located in scenic Northcentral Arkansas and serves Izard, Stone, Sharp, and Fulton counties, where residents enjoy a variety of outdoor activities, as well as the benefits of the tranquility that the rural setting affords. Education at Ozarka is on the cutting edge, with traditional day and evening classes available at the main campus in Melbourne and locations in Ash Flat and Mountain View to serve its service area of Fulton, Izard, Sharp and Stone counties. The College also offers a wide range of online classes that provides flexibility in scheduling for students with busy work and family schedules. Position Specific:
- Assist in the selection of tutors
- Coordinate tutor training and scheduling
- Conduct evaluations of tutors and tutoring program
- Provide tutoring as requested by participating students and as specified on participants' Educational Success Plan and serve as a resource for tutors
- Work with participating students as requested by faculty
- Provide advising services to students as recommended by the Program Director
- Develop and conduct workshops related to student success
- Maintain student records and accurate documentation of services and tutor payroll
- Make recommendations for purchase of tutorial print materials and software
- Assist in the development of program policies and procedures, especially those pertaining to program tutoring services
- Assist in the development of reports to be submitted to the U. S. Department of Education
- Attend conferences and professional training as recommended by the Program Director
College Wide:
- Participate in any committees or groups which may affect or impact TRIO SSS participants;
- Cooperate with all college departments to provide and share information regarding the program and the program participants;
- Serve on Ozarka College committees as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum of an associate degree, bachelor's degree preferred, in the preferred areas of developmental education, disability services, or related fields, with at least one year of teaching or professional tutoring experience
- Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of and practical application experience in learning and teaching styles and familiarity with computer-aided instruction and utilization of distance education tools
- Membership in professional tutoring or similar association strongly encouraged
- Preferred background similar to that of participants
